Ann Bates – Ceramicist

Ann Bates is a ceramicist working in Derbyshire from her lovely home.  Following on from a shoot I did for Artsbeat Magazine, when Ann was the featured artist, I was asked back to photograph her latest series of work.  Ann has developed a unique technique when working with the call that involves creating a large “sandwich” of differing materials and then literally bashing it on the floor!  Once all this is done the resulting medium it cut and shaped into delightful items ready to be fired at 1250C.

I did all of these photos for Ann in her living room using my mobile studio set up.
