Jill Kerr – Lino Cutter

I have been working with Artsbeat Magazine to photograph artists in their studios and the next artist on the list was Jill Kerr – a Lino cutting and print expert.  Jill lives in a beautiful house and work in a fabulous studio in the garden.  Her work is of the highest standard and it was  a privilege to be invited in for tea and a look a round.  Jill generally only make about 20 prints from each Lino cut and then that’s it.  The process involves cutting away the Lino as each successive colour is added so by the end of the printing process it is not possible to do any more.  All of this takes a long time and has to be very accurate.  I was amazed by the results!
