Eddie Hallam – Master Sculptor
I love watching artists at work and learning about their craft. Artsbeat Magazine features artists every month and I have been lucky enough to be asked to visit various artists in the area and capture them, their studio and their work for the magazine.
Eddie Hallam, of Wildlife Sculptures, lives and works in the shadow of Riber Castle in Derbyshire, where he used to be in charge of the Lynx breeding program. Eddie is very particular about his working measures every aspect of his animal subjects to the millimetre – every sculpture is 1 to 1 scale. He told me his favourite tool was his scale rule! All his work is cast in bronze and then he hand patinates the finish using a blowtorch and a lot of skill.
Being in solid bronze these are not the cheapest of items but they are well worth investing in of you love wildlife and want a permanent reminder of your favourite animal.
